Siblings
Another great topic that I'm excited to talk about...my sister Crystal!
(Pictures taken in Vegas when she got married in January)
I only have one sister and she is 5 years older thank I am. We didn't have that wonderful childhood bond that a lot of sisters had growing up. I think most of the reason was because of our age difference...we were just never in the same place growin up. When I was in middle school, she was in high school...when I was in high school, she was getting married. We just never seemed to understand each other, leading us to fight like cats and dogs most of our lives ha!
Don't get me wrong, we have some great childhood memories together. I always think about walking down to the end of the driveway to catch the bus, and she would cross the street and get us some honeysuckle to smell. Or the first day we would get home from school and find that my parents had started the fireplace (we had an old wood burning stove back in the day), and we would sprint as fast as we could up our looong driveway...tickled pink because we knew it was officially fall.
(Crystal and her husband Geoff in Alaska)
I think one of our favorite stories to tell is when I got pissed off at her because she had locked herself in her room...while I was left to play all alone. So I picked her lock, opened the door, and chunked a brush at her head. Unfortunately for me, she ducked and the brush flew into the window shade and left a huge hole haha. And sadly, this was pretty much our relationship for most of our lives.

I can remember telling my mom that I hated that I would never have a sister that I would be close with, and she would always tell me "One day y'all will be close, and probably be best friends." Well, just like in most cases, she was right. I can remember the turning point of our relationship: Crystal called me crying one night during my sophomore year of college to tell me that she and her (first) husband were getting a divorce. She was bawling and asking me what to do, and the whole time I kept thinking "Wow, why does she want to talk to me about this?"
And as uncomfortable as I felt, because we just never "bonded" like that before, I just listened to her cry and comforted her the best I could. Not long afterwards, Clinton and I were dating and getting married. Thats when our relationship began to blossom. I think she finally realized I wasn't 5 years old anymore, and I realized we had a lot more in common than I thought.
(how cute is she...surfing in Hawaii on their honeymoon)
Crystal is now one of my best friends. We are alike in so many ways, and so different in others. Shes the "professional" business women ( a trainer for JP Morgan Chase), and I'm the one that would be perfectly content teaching the little ones and doing crafts. Shes the most loving person I know, always thinking of others and doing everything she can for them. Shes married to a wonderful man that I'm proud to call my BIL.
Crystal now lives in Arizona with her husband...a looong way from good ole' Memphis. I miss her all the time and I wish she was here to watch Presley grow up...and for me to do the same when she has children. But luckily she gets to come home a few times a year. For Thanksgiving we are driving out to AZ so we can spend the holidays with her and Geoff's family! I can't wait!!
Lastly...
Today is "Fun Friday" at work and a few of us ladies had Pajama Day...and we're all snacking on "sleepover" food...chips, dip, bagel bites haha! Happy Friday ladies!
