Wishful Wednesday!!

'I wish' .... I was six years old and going trick or treating, and my costume would be Alice in Wonderland!

I really wasn't a big fan of the movie or the character, but looking back I just think its such a cute costume for a little girl! I also love Raggedy Ann and Dorothy costumes!! Please check out my friend Kellys blog and see the post she did with some pics of her two little girls dressed as Dorothy, and their friend Nan is Raggedy Ann...tooo cute!!!
If I was doing something for an infant, I LOVE skunk costumes! I think they are so precious! I really went back and forth on doing that for my little girl this year, but I went with a pig instead!

This isn't her....just the pic from the website! But you can check out my blog labeled "Welcome" and there are some pics of her from Zoo Boo!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Halloween! Happy Haunting!

Wishful Wednesday!

'I wish' I could go on vacation anywhere and it would be.........
HERE!

I don't even know where this is, and quite frankly I don't even care! But at this very moment, I would LOVE to be tucked away in a cabin in the mountains right about now! I just need a vacation in the worst way, and I think I would actually prefer it to be somewhere that I can actually relax and be away from civilization.

Now normally, I would say New York. That is always my #1 vacation choice. I love to go places where I have tons and tons to do and go non-stop! But I feel like that is my life on a daily basis now, so Im gearing towards somewhere I can relax and have peace and quiet.

And why I'm at it, I thought I would go ahead and share my list of places that I want to go to! Thats right, I have a list! And I keep it in my planner at all times and add to it when I think of somewhere new!

Here are all the places I want to see in and outside the US:

1. Seattle
2. Maine
3. Vermont
4. New Hampshire
5. San Francisco
6. LA
7. San Diego
8. Montana
9. Boston/Salem
10. Chicago
11. Charleston
12. Vegas- going there in January woohoo!
13. DC
14. Jackson Hole
15. Italy
16. Paris
17. Australia
18. Greece
19. London
20. Switzerland

A group of girlfriends are actually talking about going to Seattle next year which I'm super pumped about! Clinton and I have also talked about flying into Boston, and driving through Vermont, New Hampshire, etc, all the way to Maine! Gosh I hope that happens soon!

Happy vacation dreaming everyone! Now make your list too...it gives you something to be excited about!

Welcome!

Well I've been seriously slacking this year on the fall decor! Usually September rolls around and Im buying mums, hay, and everything else under the sun! I dont really know why because its still usually hot here in September, so it totally takes the fun away. But this year I was a slacker and didn't get to my fall decorating till this weekend...Presley had so much fun!!

So Welcome! This is what you would see if you came to my house this fall holiday season!

"Presley" the scarecrow!

And I had to throw in this pic to prove my child has OCD. I told her to place the small pumpkins and gourds where she would like...she lined all 3 in a roll on the hay and the ground!

I'm a little late on these, but here are a few pics from last weekends dinner club! Some girls from high school meet every month for dinner and its been going strong for 2 years! Every now and then even the kiddos get to come ;)

Sydney and Pres

I love Olive and Sydney!

And of course sweet Brooks :)

So back to this weekend...Clinton took me to see Kings of Leon in Nashville on Friday. My bf Candice met us there, too! We had a blast! They are amazing live!!

Saturday we drove back bc my other bf LA was coming in town from Nashville with her sweet family so we could all go to Zoo Boo together...its a thing our zoo does every year for Halloween! We met for dinner first at this great little place Ive never been too...I'll def be back!

Presley in her pig costume! Some stupid lady actually told me that she was the "cutest little lamb"....seriously???!!!!

And here they are...2 of my favorite ladies, and me :)

Clinton and Pres!

The famous couple :)

Presley was LOVING her some Jason that night (LA's husband)...and I think he was enjoying her too...they need a little girl...like NOW!

And here is Brooks (#2)! This was his very first halloween!

Daddy and Pres....she cried for 20 minutes after we left the "neighs"...she LOVES horses!

All the ladies at Zoo Boo! I love you gals!
Ya'll probably recognize a few of these ladies... Go East Memphis Mama on the left... La Bella Vita in the middle... and My Beautiful Life, second from the right!
Sorry for the super long blog! Hope you gals have a great Tuesday!!

Better late than never

Today as I was checkin on all my favorite blogs, I noticed that Short Southern Mama had posted about her town along with a few pics. I couldnt help but think about how I really do love where I live. I know I complain about Memphis sometimes, and affectionately call it the "armpit of the nation" (haha), but its still home none-the-less...and I love it :)

I actually live in suburb of Memphis where I was born and raised. Of course back then it was small and out in the middle of nowhere. Now its becoming one of the most popular places to move too because of the school systems...and its clear of Memphis' bogus politics! I couldnt find many pics online of it, but I thought I'd go ahead and post a few of my favorite things about Memphis :)

#1...our TIGERS! Most Memphians will say that there isn't much to be "proud" of when it comes to our city, but I think most would agree that the Tigers are at the top of the list!

And since we're talking about the Tigers...my favorite of all time...none other than Joey Dorsey!

If you're ever in Memphis, you have to eat some of our BBQ...we're kinda famous for it ha! Rendezvous is the FIRE!

And here are some downtown pics :)

And I love our zoo! It has been voted #1 in the country and its easy to see why. We have a lot of cool exhibits here!

And how could I forget...Graceland!
And nope...never been. Probably never will. And I think I'll be ok ;)

Wishful Wednesday

'I wish'...I had one particular talent and it would be to DANCE!

I absolutely LOVE to watch amazing dancers!!! I was on the pom squad in high school and we did some competitions here and there, but I'm talking "so you think you can dance/dancing with the stars" type dancers! I could seriously watch people dance for hours on end! The best concert I've ever been to was Janet Jackson with N'Sync...talking about some AMAZING dancing!! I wouldve rather paid to watch that than to listen to the songs ha!

I also have one other "talent" that I wish I had, so I thought I might throw it out there. I wish I could run. I'm talking full force marathon runner. How amazing would that be?! Just to be able to get out there and go for miles.

If you'd like to join in on Wishful Wednesdays, just head on over to Seattle Smiths!

Happy Hump Day y'all!

Yawwwwn....

I am so sleepy today. Its one of those days where you find yourself typing with your eyes closed so that you can "work" and "nap" at the same time.

I finally broke down today and made a doctors appointment. I hate going to the doctor. Period. I all but have to be on my death bed before I will usually go. Of course, I'm not that bad off by any means today. But for the last few weeks, I have been really really achy....from head to toe. My skin even hurts...heck, my scalp even hurts! I have absolutely no other symptoms but that. I've kinda shrugged it off for the most part, but the last few days have gotten worse. I'm so tired and weak that I feel like my legs are going to give out just walking across the house. After walking up the stairs at work, you would think I just got done running a marathon. I'm so weak that I feel like I can't even make it to my desk. What in the world is going on with me?! I feel like an 80 year old woman!
Needless to say, I'm getting a little concerned that there is something else going on other than your typical cold or flu. So I had to bite the bullet and make an appointment for today. Say a prayer for me! I can't feel like this much longer or I'm going to lose it! And I have a very important weekend coming up so I need to kick this to the curb ASAP!

Clinton is taking me to Kings of Leon in Nashville on Friday. We're coming back on Saturday morning bc my bf LA and her husband and son are coming in (from Nashville) so that we can go to Zoo Boo! I can't wait to see them! I havent seen them since they moved up there this summer so I'm soooo excited!!!

Well, I hope the rest of you are having a better week than I am! But I have faith that its going to get much better. Have a good day!!

This Years Love...

is probably my all time fave song! I LOVE me some David Gray! I hope that most of y'all know who he is...if not, please youtube him and check him out. He's from England (which Ive recently discovered that most of my favorite singers/bands...hotties in general... are from there. I really think I've been living in the wrong place this whole time ). Just check him out...ok?!

I don't know what it is about his voice, but it literally puts me in a trance! When I'm stressed at work, I pull up the ole youtube and just start going through his songs one at a time. It totally mellows me out. But I like to listen to the live versions the best. He's just so passionate when he sings...and just a tad bit sexy. He gets so into it that his head is just bouncing around like crazy! Next thing I know, mine is too! Thank God there are no hidden cameras in my office...Lord, at least I hope not. Otherwise someone is getting a good laugh out of my foolishness.

Anyways, I hope I get to see him in concert one day. Candice and I were actually planning a trip to Chicago this month so we could see him...but it didn't work out :( Then I found out today he's playing in Seattle in November, which is on my wish list of places to see...dang it! I wish I wouldve known about that sooner!

So if you get a chance, go check out some of his music. I'm sure you've heard of some of his most popular songs "This Years Love"... "Babylon" ..."Please Forgive Me"...no, not a remake of Bryan Adams :)

Anyways, I'll leave you with my favorite video:

Enjoy!

Random Dozen

1. On an average, how often do you splurge and buy something for yourself?
Gosh I have no idea...I'm so obsessed with buying Presley new things that I never think about myself anymore. But I would guess that I buy myself little things here and there all the time...thats what my Target and Hobby Lobby runs are for every Saturday :)

2. Are you more like Hall or Oates? Just kidding. Real question: What is the last creative project you began/finished? I pretty much wrapped up all my projects before School started...so I guess I would have to say repainting most the house.

3. OK, Goldie Locks, do you consider your house too big, too little or juuuust right? Too small..but I love it :)

4. What is your favorite outdoor chore?
Definitely planting flowers or decorating for holidays!

5. If you knew that cigarette smoking was not bad for your health but would be a weight loss tool, would you use it? Why or why not? Hmmmm that would be very tempting! But I dont think I could handle the smell.

6. On a road trip, would you rather drive or ride? Depends on who I'm going with...

7. What do you consider a trivial pursuit? Money

8. This weekend, we downloaded the movie "Duplicity" with Julia Roberts and Clive Owen. Within 5 minutes, I was bored and annoyed, but I kept watching 5-10 minutes at a time hoping it would get better between small chores. So ... how long do you watch a movie or read a book before giving up on it? About 30 minutes on a movie, maybe 3 chapters on a book.

9. Is there a song that you really love but are embarrassed to admit because it's not cool or it's racy or because it's by Hall and Oates? I'm sure that I have one, but its not hitting me right now.

10. On a scale of 1-10 (10 = extremely) how spontaneous are you? Sadly, only about a 5. I watched the movie "Story of Us" last night and it made me depressed because I realized I was so much like her.

11. Are you a food and/or beverage snob? Well if the fact that I refuse to eat at a buffet is a food snob, then YES!

12. Who/What are you trying to control in your life? (I hear people gulping and see them sweating in anticipation of how to answer this one.)
My sanity! I work full time, take 3 classes, have a daughter and a husband...and try to fit a little me time in there in between...and lets not forget my family and friends too! so its a little crazy sometimes, and i have little mini meltdowns about once every 2 weeks. but im getting there! its gonna be ok ;)

Wishful Wednesday

'I wish'.... I could change one physical trait about myself and that would be my smile.

I'm sure many of you would think I would pick my weight...which is definitely true...but how I look at it, I could do something about that if I really put my heart in it. But its my smile, that I would love to change! I've always wanted these big, beautiful teeth that are perfectly straight...along with a pretty set of lips! I've even contemplated having allll my teeth sawed down so that I can get caps and have perfect teeth! If it wouldn't cost my a small fortune, I very well would do that!

Now, this might be cheating but it was also a toss up between my smile and my hair. I HATE my hair! What I would give to have some beautiful, flowing locks! My hair is naturally curly...but not the pretty kind that everyone envies. It waves in some places, has tight curls in other places, and frizzes all over! I do straighten it with my wonderful chi that I could NEVER live without, but as soon as the humidity hits (which is unavoidable here in Memphis), it just kinks back up!

So, although I have a list a mile long of the things I would like to change about myself, I had to go with the smile because its the one thing Ill least likely ever have the chance to change....but oh I wish I did!

So if you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Head over the The Seattle Smiths and check out everyone else!

Happy Hump Day!

To-Do List

"It is when we forget ourselves that we do things
that will be remembered."

I got this off of another blog, but I had to share it. I think we should all try this!

Have a wonderful day ladies!

Weekend Wrap-up!

So this weekend was a great one! My sister, who now lives in Phoenix, came home for the weekend to surprise my mom for her birthday!

Friday night I told my parents to meet us at this local restaurant Vinegar Jims. The plan was for my sister to just walk up to the table and surprise my mom....however, there was a wait so she decided to hide inside until we were seated. Ten minutes later, she got tired of waiting and just walked out on the front porch to surprise her. Thank God...you would've thought that my mom saw a ghost haha! It was definitely a good thing we were outside!

Side note: For all of y'all in the Memphis area, you need to go to Arlington and check out Vinegar Jims! Its sooo good! My dads cousin was actually the original owner so it holds a special place in my heart. But if youre looking for some good ole' country food...and FRIED PIES...then this is your place!

Saturday we just did a little shopping and had lunch with Candice :) Crystal went to a friends that night, and I went to my sweet little nephews second birthday party!

Just a few pics of Presley and Ben!

Sunday my sister, mom, and I went to the "Mistletoe Merchant" to do a little Christmas shopping! I could've dropped a small fortune on some cute decorations, but I restrained myself! I did however buy Presley her first smocked Christmas dress for this season! We finished off the weekend with a good dinner Crystal made for all of us! I cant wait for her to come back again in December!

And while I'm at it, I might as well top off the blog with some happies from today! I had a pretty crazy day today....work, school, work, test....but I came home to find Clinton had opened 3 of my recent purchases "because he was bored." Either way, I was still excited!

Presleys new Christmas stocking from Pottery Barn!

The hat I ordered from Hooked on You Hats!! I got it in navy blue with a hot pink flower to match her coat...its so stinking cute!

And last...but ohhhh not the least....my Twilight movie I won off ebay!

I hope everyone had as good of a weekend...and Monday...as I did! Heres to an even better week!

The Countdown has begun!

Happy October 1st!!!

This is one of my favorite days of the year!! As I blogged about a few weeks ago, October 1st is my official kickoff to the holidays! And for once, it actually feels like fall outside! Here in good ole' Memphis, we rarely have a true "fall." We pretty much jump from extremely hot and HUMID weather to our sweaters and toboggans. Oh and forget about a beautiful snow filled winter, too. We have ice storms...and that is it.

None-the-less, I love Memphis because it is home...even if it is the arm pit of the nation ()

Happy Holidays y'all!! And get busy...only 84 days till Christmas!
