The Shack

Happy Friday!!

Hope y'all are just as excited about the weekend as I am! I have a ton of homework to do, but I'm looking forward to doing some chillin' around the house! For once I have nothing planned!

We're staying home tonight so I can make a tutu for a little girls 1st birthday, so I'm gonna try to talk Clinton into letting me watch one of my fave chick flicks. He is about to KILL me with some winter Olympics! I mean, I love ice skating and skiing, but enough is enough.

I'm sure Presley and I will engage in our normal Saturday routine....Target, Hobby Lobby, Macys, and Baby Gap...then I want to get home early and clean and study!

Sunday we'll just head to church, do some more homework, and if I'm done in time then I'm gonna have dinner with some of my favorite ladies :) Sounds like a perfect weekend for me!

Now. On to books.

So I've been reading The Shack.

I'm about half way through it. It started out really really good! I couldnt put it down! But now I'm kinda confused about how I feel. I really would like to tell you why, but I don't want to ruin it for anyone. Its just a lot different than I expected....and I'm sure most people would feel the same way. So if you've read it, I'm really interested in your thoughts on it! I'll just say this....he's in the process of having his "come to Jesus" meeting....this is where I'm struggling with the "characters"....nough said.

Now on to a movie we watched last night:

Monster... Charlize Theron.

Now, for all of yall that are wondering why I would want to see that movie...let me first clear some things up and tell you that I had NO IDEA what it was suppose to be about. All I knew was that Charlize Theron received much praise in her transformation to play the role, as well as her acting skills.

Based on that note, major kudos to her. Here is the transformation....

Now that I've thrown up a little, let me say this:
WHAT. THE. CRAP?!
Have yall seen this movie??!! Don't get me wrong...she is absolutely amazing when you think about how gorgeous she is, and then you look at her character. And the way she could act like a total crack-head prostitute like she's been doing it for 50 years... absolutely commendable. But it was just disgusting. The language. The "relationship." Her lifestyle. The sickness of it all. But for some reason, we never seemed to be able to turn it off. It's like we couldnt look away, but we wanted to so bad. Clinton looked at me about 10 times and said "her teeth are really about to make me throw up" hahaha. I was like "is that really the only thing about to make you throw up? Because I can list soooo many more things that make we wanna vomit a little bit!"
Anyway, it is based on a true story which always seems to make things a little more interesting to me. If you've seen it, feel free to share your thoughts. If you haven't, just be prepared...thats all I'm saying.

Well I'm off! You ladies have a wonderful weekend!

Oh Candice yes, I've seen Monster! It's be a really, really long time but I just remember I felt sick at my stomach the entire time. Some of the stuff that she did in that movie really made me want to vomit! But like y'all, I couldn't turn it off! UGH!

i DID read the shack (actually i'm almost done - started reading it when we went to mexico over christmas) and i TOO had a weird time with the way they did the whole ... meeting thing. the three, it just is weird to me. i was trying to figure out if i felt like it was sacreligious (which i don't think it is) or not! TOTALLY get what you're saying. but the funniest thing is when i picked it up i had NO idea it was christian-based! TOO funny. i just looked at my husband and said "WHOA they're talking about Jesus in here! i think i like this book more than i thought i was going to" ... and then it got weird. TOTALLY get where you're coming from!

STICK WITH THE SHACK! It ended up being one of my favorite books. I hated the begining, was confused in the middle, and LOVED the end! I need to reread it now knowing everything.

All I can say about The Shack is to hang in there. You'll understand why he imagines Jesus like that.. it'll help :).
