Top Two Tuesday...Dates

This weeks topic...top 2 dates!!

First of all, I have a huge shocker here....I will not be uploading any pics to this post. Crazy, I know. Truth is, I dont even have pics from my favorite dates with Clinton. They always seem to happen when you least expect it and of course you don't have your camera on you. AND both were pretty long ago...before the days of uploading every pic to your laptop.

The best date Clinton and I have ever had was definitely our engagement night. He came and picked me up, drove my to one of my dad's farms...blindfolded...put me on the back of a four wheeler...blind folded....and drove me to the back of the farm where there was a lake. As we got close to it, he took off my blindfold and I could see all these flames through the trees...I teased him that I felt like we were on Survivor haha. The sun was setting and the sky was almost purple like. When we got back there, there was a table set up with candles, plates, wine glasses...the works. There were tiki torches all around, a firepit...it was breath taking. Then he cooked some steaks with a grill he brought, had all the sides already prepared. It was wonderful!

The worst part of the date is that I fully expected to get proposed to, and at 10:30....about 3 hours after we got there...he still had not done it. I was getting so disappointed and really mad at myself for getting all worked up. Then I just started laughing because Leigh Anne and I had sincerely thought he was proposing that night, and here we were at 10:30 cleaning up all the food, dishes, putting out the fire, etc. Clinton turned around to ask me why I was laughing and I told him that LA was convinced he was proposing, and that I thought he was, too. When I turned around, he was down on one knee :)

My fave thing about the whole deal is that he got his little brother one of his bf's at the time, to set up everything while he was at work. He drew them a map of how to get back there, and even had a diagram of how to set up the table, where to dig the fire pit...everything. I loved that he put so much thought and effort into planning it. I still have both drawings, too :)

My second favorite date was when he took me to Paulettes for our 1st Valentines Day. His friend (the one that helped set up our engagement dinner) suggested it because it was suppose to be the most romantic place to eat in Memphis. It was only about $75 for 2 people...no biggie. So we get there...at 10:30 at night bc that was the only reservation still available...to find that they have a set menu and its about $60 a person. And to make matters worse, they were so busy that we were stuck in the back of the restaurant that was 1) not pretty, and 2) not romantic. Neither of us were impressed with the food or the atmosphere either. SO why was this one of my favorite dates then??? Because the way this turned out was just so typical of us. We are not the "fine dining" kind of people, and whenever we try, it always blows up in our face. We spent $150 on a meal that wasn't even worth it, and we both learned that its not the nice restaurants that make a date special...its the company.

What a sweet proposal! And I love what you said about the people being the most important part... because it is so true! One of my favorite "date nights" recently was my hubby bringing home a pizza from his Pizza Hut and sitting on the floor eating and watching a movie and pausing and talking and laughing, then going for a walk around our neighborhood. :)

Such a SWEET proposal story! I love it! And we are not fancy dinner people either. Our best nights include Pei Wei, Buffalo Wild Wings and Moe's.

Awe such a sweet proposal! Love it!

Yeah I happen to think I would be ticked too if we spent that much on dinner and didn't even enjoy it, yikes! The company is all that matters though, that's exactly right!

Have a great night!

xoxo
